In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The most delicious way to enjoy all the summer fruit!
Can we discuss this year's summer goodness?
Seriously, we have been so blessed this year. I've been obsessed with the strawberries, juicy nectarines and super-cold watermelon.
Not to mention white doughnut peaches. Seriously, they are so sweet this year!
But, there comes a time when your fridge is jam-packed with all this fruit and you need a way to get it all eaten. Guys, make this orange vanilla fruit salad. Oh my days, it is so easy. All we're going to do is make an orange vanilla syrup, chill it and then proceed to drown all our fruit in it. The syrup is sweet with the vanilla and citrusy (is that even a word?!) with all the orange - you must give this recipe a go before the summer ends!

A Simple List of Ingredients:
For the Orange Vanilla Syrup:
1. Water
2. Caster Sugar
3. Orange Zest
4. Vanilla Pod
5. Orange Juice
For the Fruit Salad:
1. Watermelon
2. Oranges
3. Strawberries
4. Blueberries
5. Raspberries
6. Bananas
7. Doughnut Peaches
8. Melon
9. Apples
Bismillah, let's begin!
We'll start by making our orange vanilla syrup. Take a deep saucepan.
Measure out 125 ml Water.
And, pour it into the pan.
Next, 125 grams Caster Sugar. Granulated sugar will work well here too.
In that goes.
So far, we have the ingredients for a simple sugar syrup which is equal parts sugar and water.
To give our syrup the orange flavour, take the Zest of 1 Orange.
Add to the pan.
Next, for the vanilla flavour!
Take 1 Vanilla Pod. You can also use 1 teaspoon vanilla essence instead but will add it later on.
Scrape out the seeds of the pod and add to the pan. Throw in the pod too for extra flavour.
Finally, a little more orange.
Squeeze in the Juice of 1/2 Orange.
How easy was that? Now all we do is cook.
Place the pan over a high heat and bring to the boil.
Give it a stir to let everything combine.
Once it begins to boil ...
... turn the heat to medium-low. Let the syrup cook until the sugar has completely dissolved and it has thickened slightly. This should take about 10 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup cool completely. If using vanilla essence, stir it into the syrup once it has cooled slightly.
I like to place my syrup into an airtight container and chill completely in the fridge.
It keeps well in the fridge for a few days.
While the syrup chills, let's talk fruit. You can use any fruit you like and as much as you like.
I used Oranges, Strawberries, Blueberries and Raspberries.
Plenty of Watermelon.
Doughnut Peaches
Apples
Melon
Bananas
Once the orange vanilla syrup has completely chilled, you're ready to serve!
I like to slice all my fruit, drizzle on some syrup and serve! The best dessert, snack or breakfast! Omg, for breakfast, serve with vanilla yoghurt and your favourite granola.
