Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!
This recipe is for Flapjacks. It is a simple mixture of oats, butter, sugar and golden syrup which is baked in the oven, and then cooled and sliced into pieces. The smell in your house when you bake these is just amazing! It epitomizes the months of autumn to me - that sweet smell of baking syrupy oats!
This recipe makes 25 pieces of flapjacks.
A Simple List of Ingredients:
1. Butter
2. Sugar
3. Golden Syrup
4. Rolled Oats
Bismillah, let's begin!
Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 4 (350 degrees F or 180 degrees C)
Place four ounces (113 grams) butter or margarine into a large saucepan.
Melt the butter over a low heat.
Throw in four ounces sugar.
Dissolve the sugar on low heat, by stirring constantly.
Now, add three tablespoons golden syrup.
Cook for two minutes.
Finally, throw in eight ounces (226 grams) rolled oats.
Stir in the oats, coating them well in all the liquid.
Place the mixture into a lined oven dish.
Press the mixture in.
Bake in the preheated oven at Gas Mark 4 for 40 minutes.
Once baked, slice into squares whilst still hot and in the dish.
Allow to cool completely, and serve! You can be really creative with this recipe by adding your own twists - maybe some dried fruit and nuts, or you can drizzle melted chocolate over them after they have been baked and cooled!
Wasalaam!
