Sweet + Salty Chocolate Bars

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

I first tried this recipe about 2 years ago and it has become a firm family favourite.

I don't make it often but when I do these bars do not last long.
They are really sweet and chocolatey but also have a savoury and salty taste to them as well. They are the perfect balance and ideal to give as a gift.
But you should be warned, they are not to be eaten all at once, as one of my friends can tell you. Too much of these bars at once results in a sugar rush which lasts for days!
This recipe is for Kauthar. I remember a very memorable afternoon with her, spent trying to describe how to make these bars, so Kauth, I hope these step by step pictures will help! And look! There is not an oven in sight!

A Simple List of Ingredients:

1. Milk Chocolate
2. Dark Chocolate Chips
3. Butter
4. Golden Syrup
5. Roasted Peanuts
6. Salted Peanuts
7. Crunchie Chocolate Bars

Bismillah, let's begin!

The first ingredient is milk chocolate. I used Cadbury but you can use whatever you have.

Break the 200 grams Milk Chocolate into pieces and place into a medium saucepan.
Try not to eat any of the chocolate!

The next ingredient is 100 grams Dark Chocolate Chips. You can also use a dark chocolate bar and break it into pieces.
I added dark chocolate because it helps to balance out the sweetness. If you like it sweet, by all means instead of dark, add a bag of milk chocolate chips.

Add the chocolate chips to the saucepan.

Next, add 4 ounces (113 grams) Butter to the pan.

The next ingredient is golden syrup.

Add 3 tablespoons Golden Syrup to the saucepan.

Next, take 8 ounces (226 grams) Roasted Peanuts.

Then, take 8 ounces (226 grams) Salted Peanuts.

Next, take 3 Crunchie Chocolate Bars.
I only took a photo of 2 but I added a third later.

Crush the chocolate bars into pieces.

Add both types of peanuts and the crushed chocolate to a large mixing bowl and stir to combine.

Meanwhile, on a low heat, melt the chocolate mixture.

Until it's melted!

Pour the melted chocolate into the peanut mixture.

Mmmmmm!

And stir properly to combine.

Pour the mixture into a square tray (I used a disposable foil one). Press in, and leave to cool in the fridge until set.

Cut into squares and serve!
