We had some chicken stock leftover this week after poaching an entire chicken. My Mother used it as the base for a vegetable pulao.
It was delicious with this yoghurt salad raita.
There's been a box of Falooda mix in the cupboard for ages.
The weather was pretty warm here at the start of the week so some of us couldn't resist making some. The base is cooked with milk and water before being cooled completely. It's served here simply with Rooh Afza and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
My Mother made this okra curry at the start of the week. I know okra isn't loved by everyone but honestly, it's one of my favourite vegetables especially cooked with lamb keema.
Speaking of my Mother, do you guys know that she has her own Instagram recipe account? If you love her recipes here on the blog and I know so many of you do, then you definitely need to follow her on Instagram where she shares full recipes for some of her day-to-day cooking.
Pretty pots all in a row on the kitchen windowsill. I'm not going to pretend like I know what's been planted in them. That is, like most things in the garden, my Mother's territory.
She started planting flowers for next year this week. I love the combination of the purple and yellow here.
Storm Ophelia was causing all sorts of problems at the start of the week. Alhamdulillah, we weren't hit too bad here except for some pretty weird skies.
This was the sky at around 1pm. So light but a little dark at the same time.
I've always had all the disasters with honeycomb so decided to buy my own.
Along with toffee and chocolate apples. I was eyeing this recipe but decided to buy them instead.
I love strange pasta and you cannot get any stranger (and gluten-free) than pasta made with green peas and red lentils.
An afternoon spent making Polish pierogi dumplings served with a fresh chive, lemon and sour cream sauce.
We had a lot of smoked haddock in the freezer that needed using up. My Mother made use of them in these smoked haddock pakoras.
She also made this delicious chicken karahi this week which we all enjoyed with flatbreads.
