Peri Peri Oven Fries.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

An easy side dish for you guys today.
And, these 5-ingredient peri peri oven fries could not be easier.
They were inspired by the fries in this recipe and can be customized with whichever herb mix you have in the cupboard. I've already made them twice this Ramadan.

Is your spice cupboard packed to the rafters like mine is? There are so many little jars of seasonings in there from cajun, jerk, Italian and Thai. But the one I used for this recipe was the Peri Peri spice blend.

If you don't have this, you can easily make a batch of your own at home. This recipe looks good. In fact, I'm thinking of making it once the jar above finishes.

So, these fries. How do I make them, I hear you shout. Well, since it's the last 10 days of Ramadan, I'm going to make your life even easier by using frozen French fries as opposed to actual potatoes. All you do is toss said fries with a concoction of herb seasoning blend, salt, oil and garlic paste. Bake in the oven and that's it. We ate ours with fried fish but they would be just as good with these wraps. Go, make them!

A Simple List of Ingredients:
1. Frozen French Fries
2. Oil
3. Peri Peri Herb Seasoning
4. Salt
5. Garlic Paste

Bismillah, let's begin!

Pre-heat the oven to 200C / Gas Mark 6. Grease and line an oven tray.

So, for this recipe, I prefer using frozen French fries. They're crispy, bake in no time and I'm sure there is a bag in your freezer right now just waiting to be used up. I've never tried this recipe with any other oven chips, but you could always give it a go.

Into a bowl, place 380 grams Frozen French Fries.

Then, for the seasoning. Into a small bowl, place 4 tablespoons Oil. I used a light olive oil but vegetable is good too.

Next, the star! I used a peri peri herb spice blend but you can use any you have. I mean, get creative, the supermarkets are full of different options.

Into the oil, place 1 heaped teaspoon Peri Peri herb seasoning mix. Also, add Salt, to taste. You could also just sprinkle with salt after baking.

For a little extra flavour in the background, garlic paste/puree. I feel this is better than fresh chopped garlic because it'll coat the fries properly.

Add 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Paste. If you don't have the paste, add a grated clove of garlic instead.

Give the paste a good mix.

And, pour it over the fries.

That's it! All you do is now is give everything a good toss - make sure the fries are all coated well.

Grab your oven tray and tip the fries onto it. Get them into a single layer, if possible, and bake at 200C / Gas Mark 6 for 20-25 minutes. Alternatively, check the directions on the French fries packet.

Once baked, they should be crispy and golden.

Ready to eat!

Serve with ketchup, peri peri sauce and ranch for dipping. Enjoy!
