Family Lunches + Scones + Daffodils: 5 April - 11 April 2014

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Welcome to my second week in pictures!

Usually I always think that time has gone by so fast, but during this past week it hasn't. Since I almost always had some sort of camera with me to snap pictures, I felt like I was slowing down and actually pausing to enjoy the moment.
So, my thought for you all this week, is to slow down and pause for a few minutes. Get out of the car and just walk, and you will discover something different for the day.
Anyway, we have a lot of pictures to get through, so let's begin!

Saturday: We had lunch with my cousin and aunt. My cousin cooked up Sweet and Sour Stir Fry with Veggies and Chicken. It was so delicious and filling but without being heavy. She also made a salad with spinach, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, feta and pine nuts.
Dessert was slightly more indulgent - layers of biscuit, melted chocolate, strawberry custard, whipped cream and more chocolate on top!
Sunday: It was a gloomy and cloudy day and felt like a day for scones. I baked Devon Scones and served them with whipped cream and jam.
Monday: Rain rain go away!
Why do rainy days always become soup days? This is a Spicy Chicken and Veg Soup and it was good!
Spent a few hours doing some cleaning, and found a few goodies.
Dinner was outside. And the strawberries are back!

Tuesday: Porridge for breakfast with sliced strawberries and melon. The following pictures are from a walk I took in my neighbourhood.

How old do you think this tree is?

Primroses planted by my mother :)

Going over this story!
Wednesday: Another walk and an even more beautiful day! Spring is definitely here!

Doing some gardening and planting new trees and bushes - crab apple tree, plum tree, cherry tree, blackberry bush, raspberry bush and a blackcurrent bush. I planted the above daffodils earlier in the year, and look, they grew!

Tulips!

Thursday: Another walk and my mum liked the look of this tree, so she snapped a picture.
I think that daffodils and daisies are the perfect flowers to welcome us into spring. They're so yellow and cheerful after the cold winter.
Lunch and dinner on Thursday was salmon. I never used to prefer salmon but one of my cousins cooked it for me, and I'm now converted. The salmon I cooked was marinated in spices, and then pan fried for 1 minute before being baked for 8 and it was divine. Along side, I had this rice veggie salad and hot chilli sauce.
Strawberries for dessert!
And, salty popcorn as a snack!
Friday: Blue skies for the most blessed day of the week!
My cousin gave me a few goodies. This is Raw Cacao Powder. It's the pure version of cocoa powder, I believe. I can't wait to try it out in some future recipes, inshallah. You can buy it here.
And, she gave me Light Tahini which is a paste made with roasted sesame seeds. You can buy it here.
Recipes posted on this blog this week were My Chinese Chicken with Spicy Noodles.
The addictive Chocolate Biscuit Fridge Bars.
And, my mothers' Fried Chicken Curry.

Hope you all had a blessed week and that you have an even better week to come!

Wasalaam!
