The Best Mushy Peas Ever!

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

This recipe is for one of the most classic British side dishes.

I remember having mushy peas with chips as a child. But they were always out of a can and I never questioned otherwise. Until now!

Once you try these homemade creamy mushy peas, you will never go near a can of the stuff again.

A Simple List of Ingredients:
1. Potatoes
2. Fresh Mint Leaves
3. Fresh or Frozen Peas
4. Salt and Pepper

Bismillah, let's begin!

The first thing to do is put a pan of water on the heat to boil.

Peel three potatoes.

Thinly slice the potatoes into rounds.

Place the potatoes into the pan of boiling water, and boil until they are just cooked.

Take a handful of fresh mint.

And take 300 grams frozen garden peas.

Once the potatoes are just cooked, add the peas and the mint to the pan with the potatoes.

Once the peas are cooked, drain all the vegetables.

Using a blender, blend the peas, potatoes and mint. You can keep the peas as chunky or as smooth as you like. I prefer mine on the smooth side.

Season with salt and pepper.

Serve with my homemade fish and chips, and I promise that once you've tried these mushy peas, you will never use the tinned ones again.

Wasalaam!
