October 2018: One Photo Everyday.

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Happy last day of October! It's been such a beautiful month with the leaves changing colour and the crisp blue skies. The best thing I cooked this month is the paratha up there. It was so flaky and crisp. We used it to make spicy chicken paratha wraps. Will definitely be posting the recipe soon!

Here is my October 2018:

October 1: We start with my obsession with this cooking pot - I got it from Aldi. Today, I cooked a creamy chicken and mushroom pasta in it.

October 2: And, today I used it to cook up the filling for vegetable samosas. This filling was so fragrant. It made me wonder why we don't make vegetable samosas more often.

October 3: Finally, the pot made it to the table today. I cooked a Kabuli lamb pulao in it and served it up to my aunt, cousin and niece.

October 4: Nothing this month has tasted as good as sliced apples tossed with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon.

October 5: Finally trying Turkish gozleme! These ones were with halloumi cheese, leeks, and dried mint.

October 6: Then today, we made meaty versions with lamb mince, tomato, and plenty of sumac red onions.

October 7: Frying spicy fish pakoras for Sunday lunch.

October 8: The Mother on baked samosa duty. Similar recipe here!

October 9: Couldn't resist trying out Cupcake Jemma's cinnamon toast cupcakes. They were ok but I didn't get as much cinnamon toast flavour as I had expected.

October 10: Autumn baking. The full recipe is here.

October 11: We grew the most glorious sunflowers this year.

October 12: The first of many hot shorbas this month. This one had potatoes, ginger and boiled eggs and is similar to this recipe.

October 13: Nothing beats a freshly made chicken pulao.

October 14: Sunday night spring rolls. These contained the vegetable filling from October 2nd.

October 15: Remember those glorious sunflowers from October 11th? My dad picked a few from the garden and put them into vases round the house. One day, I heard an almighty crash come from the hallway. The vase in the photo above had toppled over and fallen because of how heavy the flowers were. Cue, water everywhere! Thankfully, the vase survived and did not break.

October 16: Making burgers with these zinger burgers. I can recommend them as the chicken was well flavoured and the coating was crispy.

October 17: I cooked an old blog favourite for lunch today. You can find the recipe here!

October 18: I baked a gluten-free version of this banana cake today and topped with a chocolate buttercream.

October 19: Tandoori chicken curry and pea pulao done!

October 20: Pizza post-grocery shopping.

October 21: Used up a jar of mincemeat to bake a mincemeat apple crumble.

October 22: I cooked this soup today using what I had in the house - lamb sausage, leeks, tinned vegetable soup, and tinned green lentils.

October 23: An easy salmon dinner. Look out for it on the blog soon!

October 24: Flaky paratha success! I used them to make the most delicious chicken paratha wraps. Definitely the tastiest thing I've cooked this month.

October 25: Thursday night production chicken and potato cutlets.

October 26: My first time cooking a sausage casserole. I served it with a turnip mash and plenty of cavolo nero.

October 27: A stack of freshly made rotis.

October 28: Hot apple turnovers for a cold Sunday.

October 29: Broccoli pasta for a quick lunch.

October 30: Tested out these buttery gingerbread shortbread today. I sandwiched them together with caramel. Really nice!

October 31: Loves her colouring these days.
