Achar Gosht

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu!

This recipe is for Achar Gosht. This is a curry with a pickle taste to it, and it's really tasty with rice or naan.

A Simple List of Ingredients:

1. Onions
2. Water
4. Vegetable Oil
5. Fennel Seeds
6. Onion Seeds
7. Fenugreek Seeds
8. Lamb Leg Pieces
9. Salt
10. Red Chilli Powder
11. Ground Coriander
12. Yoghurt
13. Green Chillies

Bismillah, let's start!

Place 3 peeled and roughly chopped onions into a food processor.

Add a little water and blend to a paste.

Heat a few tablespoons vegetable oil into a pan, and add the onion paste. Cook on medium heat until golden brown.

Whilst the onions are cooking, make the spice mix. Take 1 teaspoon fennel seeds.

Roughly grind the fennel seeds.

Add 1/2 teaspoon onion seeds.

Add 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds

Stir the spice mix to combine, and set aside.

The onions should be a light, golden brown colour.

Add 1 pound lamb leg pieces.

Stir to combine.

Add 1 teaspoon ground coriander.

Add 1 teaspoon red chilli powder.

Add 1 teaspoon salt.

Mix to combine.

Add the spice mix from earlier.

Stir to combine.

Add 5 tablespoons yoghurt.

Stir to combine, bring to the boil, cover and simmer on low for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until the lamb is completely cooked and tender.

Add 2 chopped green chillies

Stir to combine.

Serve with boiled rice or naan.

Wasalaam!
